2013 Gibson L4 CES MahoganyI am the original and only owner, bought brand new in 2013. The guitar was set up beautifully by CB Hill, a local builder with his own excellent line of archtops. It has not needed any work since as it both looks beautiful and plays wonderfully. I did have CB install Imperial tuners and a Sadowsky True-Tone bridge. I have not gigged with it—it has stayed in the case in the house for the past three years since I purchased it. I’m only selling it because it doesn’t get enough playtime for me to justify keeping it as it isn’t my primary guitar. Minimal playwear. There is some light belt and button scuffs on the back as you would expect. I tried to capture them in photo, but they wouldn’t show. I believe they should buff out if you tried.Note: In discussing this guitar with someone who is interested in buying, I remembered that I had the guitar refretted by CG Hill right after I got it as well. I know it sounds like a crazy thing to forget, but I did. Here is why. When I got it the cut that Gibson had on the frets was at too much of an angle (it was a pretty sloppy fret job). Because of this, any pulling on the string for vibrato would make the high E string slip off the bottom of the neck. It has played so great since I haven't given it a second thought. I was discussing the neck and the frets with a potential buyer just now and my memory was jogged. Of course, this along with the change in bridge and tuners might make this guitar less appealing to collectors. But I bought it as a player and wanted it worked on until it was in the best possible playing condition. That's where CB Hill got it for me and it has been a great playing guitar ever since. I have reduced the price significantly.The L4 model is running $6600 to $6800 new. I’m asking for $2900 here.
