YES GIBSON & GRETSCH WERE ACTUALLY FRIENDS!This XLNT vintage 1981 Gibson 335 is customized in various "cool" ways: Such as a perfectly functioning high quality same period Bigsby Tailpiece (with Gretsch Logo,(Sorry about any possible "sacrilege" to Gibson purists out there) just for the sake of being "something different" & "more vintage interesting", "more to look at", etc. which is perfectly balanced with an "exactly just right" firm spring to stay in tune very nicely(ps THIS LITTLE COILED SPRING BELIEVE IT OR NOT IS ACTUALLY A MAIN SPECIALTY CUSTOM FEATURE OF THIS GREAT GUITAR; IT IS NOT THE STANDARD EXCESSIVELY STIFF BIGSBY BRAND "HOUSE SPRING", BUT RATHER A SPRING FROM MY PERSONAL COLLECTION OF VARIOUS GUAGE VIBRATO SPRINGS GARNERED OVER THE YEARS FROM SEARCHING THE NICHES OF MANY OBSCURE LITTLE HARDWARE STORES; "YES, LITTLE THINGS CAN MEAN A LOT SOMETIMES".(I'm an xlnt guitar tech(not bragging)and always set up any vibrato tailpieces on my various guitars to function properly and stay in tune with a good solid feel). (I personally usually use moderate tapping techniques on the vibrato arm for a nice tremolo effect; - while more extreme "dive-bombing" techniques will of course usually require some retuning (depending of course on the individual player's methodology.)(or you can simply"dive bomb the whammy" for that big finale, at the very end of a #).The guitar also features some additional customized items like: Special Toggle Switch Caps (including a very unique one for that extra Coil Tap switch(see photo) on the lower front bout, (the extra coil tap switch had limited availability from Gibson & is there4 quite rare).(all interchangeable original toggle caps are included and installed in some of the photos). Also a chrome plated solid brass truss (Schaller) rod cover (adds sustain), (the orig. black plastic cover is in the case compartment & in some of the photos)And silver color see-thru Gibson barrel speed knobs, With the special Gibson number pointers under each knob.1981 also featured the re-issue of the now highly sought after Tim Shaw PAF Humbucking Pickups. The excellent condition original Gibson Logo case has a very bright color magenta plush interior(see photo). which goes very well with the Wine Color translucent finish of the guitar. No fretwear or fingerboard wear. The neck profile sets up and plays perfectly up and down the neck.Fingerboard features the block inlays (which were always my favorite, (as well as Larry Carlton's(Mr. 335 himself), over small dots, or large block inlays which take away more of the Rosewood from the fingerboard). These block inlays are just the right size for that pianistic effect.I like these f-hole guitars in general without the pickguard, - but the original black one (with the bracket and attachment screws) is included (in perfect condition; note that's a reflection from the camera flash on the shiney surface of the pickguard in the photo, it's not a scratch or any defect). The guardplate is installed in some of the photos. The tuning machines are top of the line Gibson Logo Deluxe Klussons with the nice metal tuning buttons, not the plastic ones. (also adds sustain to the sound).Enjoy, (to the lucky player who next gets to own this very special ES-335,grab it b4 someone else does ... it's a goodieBest Wishes,Ozzy
