Chet Atkins Super 4000
Faded Cherry Sunburst

1 of only 25 Made

The Chet Atkins Super 4000 was the last guitar Chet designed for Gibson before his passing in 2001, since the estate has ended it's endorsement deal with Gibson and no more of these will be made.
It's everything a Custom Shop guitar should be, with incredible attention to detail, using the finest materials to produce an archtop instrument superior to none, even the beloved Citation.
Both top and back feature a pronounced arch, and the depth is asymmetrical, varying from 2 1/2" at the heel, to 2 17/32" at the widest point of the lower bout, to 2 5/8" where the neck meets the body (bass side), to 3 1/32" mid-cutaway. This variance means there are almost no parallel surfaces inside the guitar, resulting in no "wolf tones", or odd-sounding, non-sustaining notes. The resonance pattern of this instrument is totally even from note to note throughout its range, and the guitar is amazingly comfortable to play. Chet's preferences called for a Tune-o-Matic instead of a carved Ebony bridge, to maximize sustain, especially through an amp. The guitar features an AAA grade tight grain select Sitka Spruce arch top, and highly figured AAA grade bookmatched carved maple back. The neck is of five-ply curly maple. The finish is faded cherry sunburst.
The serial number is 7099715, and the guitar is one of only 25 produced. Comes with a plush brown leather case with brown lining
