• Scale length: 16-15/16”This is a new model from Pono and one of the best sounding tenors on the uke market. It's body is all solid Acacia wood with beautiful Macassar ebony appointments. It has an abalone rosette like all pro classic models, but with the 5 series, abalone shell is inlayed along side wi'awa wood top binding.
Hawaiian Koa is an Acacia wood, but this is not Hawaiian Koa. It has the same properties and a similar look , but this wood is closer to the Australian Blackwood Acacia. It has a very "warm" tone, projects wonderfully, and is a very musical tonewood. Corey gives us a dry sound sample. This is from the last batch that had the satin tuners (now gold) and the rosewood binding (now wi'awa) and has a low G string.
