One of the world's great preamps. There was a time when I said they'd pry it from my cold fingers, but times change and these days a small rack of 500 gear is better for my workflow. So I'm selling my beloved MP-2MH. These have been discontinued for a while, so a few details for the uninitiated: Great River preamps are extremely well-regarded in the studio world. The current model, the NV, seeks a Neve-y sound that's awesome for a whole lot of things. This is the rarely seen "other one"—Dan Kennedy's earlier design that has as much clean as the NV has character. This unit is great for acoustic instruments, classical, jazz, vocals, etc. It LOVES ribbon mics! Tons of gain and a noise level you can't find with a scanning electron microscope. One for the ages. These were made in a few different variations, both with and without output transformer. This (the MH) is the most versatile design: each channel has an XLR output tied to the transformer and an 1/4" jack that bypasses the transformer. So you can have your iron and bypass it too! Still has the sticker from the late, great Mercenary It's been racked in my smoke-free home studio since the day I got it. Please give it a good home. There are very few pieces of gear I feel attached to, but this is one! Free shipping to ConUS; actual cost elsewhere. INPUTS Microphone: 20 to 200 ohm microphone input 3 Pin XLR connector on rear panel (XLR pin 2 is hot) Hi Z: > 500K ohms ¼" phone jack on front panel OUTPUTS Type: unbalanced (balanced optional) 3 Pin XLR connector on rear panel (XLR pin 2 is hot) Maximum output: +24 dBm Output impedance: 10 ohms Minimum output load impedance: 50 ohms CONTROLS Gain control: 24 position gold-plated switch, independent per channel Phantom power: +48 Volts DC, independent per channel Microphone signal polarity: gold-plated switch, independent per channel Microphone pad (-15 dB): gold-plated switch, independent per channel Clipping indicator: red LED Power: switch and indicator LED PERFORMANCE Distortion: CCIR DFD 2 (1K) method < -72 dBv @ 8 vrms into 150 ohm load Noise: EIN < -129 dBv unweighted 22KHz bandwidth EIN < -132 dBv A-weighted 22KHz bandwidth 150 ohm termination resistor Response: 10 Hz to 30 KHz ±1 dB (mic input) 4 Hz to 160 KHz ±0.5 dB (hi Z input) all measurements @ 40 dB gain SIZE 1.75" high x 19" wide x 10" depth Weight: 8 lbs. POWER 117 Volts AC @ < 0.75 amp IEC connector
