The older Taylors are better than the new ones.The woods were better then.Also the fret job was done with the fret tangs not cut, which I prefer. When they cut the tangs it is a production shortcut and I don't like the feel or the appearance.The main thing I looked for was good looking woods and especially the "blend" of the 2 pieces of wood which make up the heel of the neck near the body. On many Taylors this separation is very visible but on this one it is done very perfectly (see Photo) and is almost not noticeable that it is 2 pieces of wood. This is a part of the guitar that is very visible to the player.This one has great sound and the N.T. (New Technology) Taylor neck has been professionally set perfectly for low even playing action up and down the neck.The A string was repaired by myself with a square not (see Photo) (after I overtuned it to the wrong octave once). I left the string on and it stays in tune no problem and is "fun to look at"(rather than break up a new set of strings (a new fresh set of Tomastik George Bensons are included; same as what's on the guitar now)I play it only acoustically, so I never bothered to reconnect the one wire inside the guitar which for some reason came loose but is an easy repair. (The wire is not really loose, but rather neatly tucked away inside.- I only play this guitar acoustically, - but it's an easy fix either way).The Ovankol is one of Taylors better instrument woods and this one has perfect grain and gold color and does not have any of the irregularities or blemishes as is often found on this model. This is a really good one! That's why I originally bought it for myself, & I am very much a perfectionist and a very good "guitar-picker-outer". (objectively speaking, not bragging).I've also upgraded this guitar with an excellent John Pearce solid ebony armrest, (as I usually do on many of my guitars. - why not, - it feels better than the edge of the guitar on my arm.The bridge pins have also been upgraded with solid brass (chrome color) pins. This enhances the tone and sustain & looks cool. (I always do this on many of my bridge pin guitars).Also included is the mini Planet Waves tuner on the headstock and the pickholder on the back of the headstock (my own Jade stone pick seen in Photo not included)The hard shell/ plush arched case is Taylor's top of the line and is in mint condition.This is much better than the newer versions of this same model from Taylor.Enjoy Ozzy
