A vintage Gibson Style A Mandolin c. 1917 (Serial # 37601) in original as found condition with its original case. This exceptional Gibson Mandolin was well kept and has an incredible tone. It plays very nicely as was recently set up by the previous owner. This instrument has no break or repairs, the top does have some minor age appropriate play wear, the original owner scrawled "Hart" on the top as pictured (presumably their last name) which adds great character to this 100 year old instrument. The original Gibson paper label is present and is written in pencil. The tuning pegs are original, I believe that the bridge was replaced at some point. The metal "The Gibson" cover plate on the bottom is missing but are easy to find replacements. The leather strap on the case has broken from age but the case is still usable for storage. The tortoise shell pickguard has a crack from age, the Pat. Pending marking is stamped in the pickguard (original). There is a small chip to the front side of the top of the headstock which is not very distracting but should be mentioned. Local buyers can also pick this up at our location in Long Beach, CA. Buyers that live in the state of California are required to pay CA State Sales Tax (9%) on their purchase. If you do not live in California you are not required to pay sales tax.
