Description Brand: Fender String Configuration: 4 String MPN: USED005003 0196902721 Dexterity: Right-Handed Model: Elite Precision Type: Electric Bass Body Type: Solid Country/Region of Manufacture: United States
Purchased over the summer back in july. Never gigged in near new condition with the exception of one small pen point sized ding near the controls. I upgraded the pickups to Bartolini- these pickups are way better than the stocks. In passive mode they sound more legit than the stock pups especially the jazz pickup- you get that burpy sound you expect from a Jazz pickup near the bridge which the stock pup did not deliver. The P pickup sounds massive- lots of low end. With that said the pickups aren't exactly balanced- the P pup is louder than the J. When panning between the two there is a slight swell in volume when you begin to favor the P. I was considering installing another set to remedy this situation but because they sound good individually I just adjusted to the matter i.e.. if I favor the Precision pup I will pull back slightly on the volume, if I favor the Jazz I open the volume all the way up., etc. One could seek out a more balanced set- the stock pups were balance but lacked the mojo you'd want from those types of pickups. I mostly played this bass in passive mode because those are the tomes I hear in my head. When active is engaged the bass takes on another dimension- more on the modern side. Other upgrades include Dunlop Straplocks in chrome. I replace the stock pickguard chrome screws with black ones- looks appropriate. I also installed a Zero Mod 2 thumb rest which feels excellent. This bass comes with the original hardshell case which is in near new condition- only slight marks from being transported from the shop to my home. The original hang tags and case candy is all included which includes a leather strap and a fender cable. Because I don't care too much for the active side of this bass and because I prefer a J bass body instead these are the reasons I've decided to part with this otherwise solid instrument.
To summarize this purchase includes original hard shell case with all original case candy/hangtags, Dunlop straplocks in chrome, zeromod 2 thumbrest installed, and Bartolini 9S precision pickup 9J-L1 jazz pickup. Fretwrap pictured is not included.
