A very fine, presumably by Luigi Fabris, Venice, 1852. Very beautiful contemporary Italian sound you see in many of the fine violins coming out of Italy during the early to mid 19th century: It has a very strong, big, warm, and sweet sound that carries very well, and is ultra smooth and easy to play. Very rich sounding. Condition is excellent, with very few repairs, all expertly done. There is a small rib graft by the tail block, a crack repaired on the rib near the upper treble corner, two tiny hairline repairs on the edge either side of the button, a small nick in the varnish near the finger board, and a small crack running down from the treble f hold (looks like it almost jumps grain and was surface, probably not even into the wood much at all) and a wing crack repaired between the treble f hole and the edge. All look expertly done. Other than that, just your normal wear and tear from being a very old, well loved violin. Very fine craftsmanship. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
