Yamaha YSL 643II Professional Trombone8 1/2 Inch Rose Brass Bell.547 Large BoreNo DentsExcellent SlideFrom the 70's or 80'sYamaha has been making trombones for the US market since the early 70's. When they first started out they hired people that would help them make models similar to the ones that were market leaders in the US. For their trombone the model they chose to copy was the Conn 88H. You can see the similarities int the red brass, bell size, stringed valve and bore size. They made this model from 1972 - 1992. This one came to me needing a bit of help. I had several dents professionally removed and the slide cleaned and aligned. While there are scratches remaining and the lacquer finish shows its age, It is a nice clean straight trombone and as you can see from the pictures is overall good looking. The hand slide works very well - fast free and smooth. You can tell that Yamaha has always had the best tooling tin the business and turns out slide that are better than the other major players in the trombone business. The F attachment trigger valve is very fast- shows why french horns use stringed valves.I am a Conn 88H guy and I like the way this trombone plays. I think the first thing that struck me is how clear and pure the sound is. It pops pedals yet has a really excellent upper end. For a large bore tenor, it would be able to fit both classical and jazz section very well, a bit more brilliant than a Bach 42 for instance. Comes with a Yamaha 48L mouthpiece - very good starting point- you might want to audition other pieces to find your own best fit. Also the original case in good shape after I replaced the latches. Yamaha makes case that are light and protective fitting the instrument perfectly. American companies should take note and learn. With Yamaha (or even Conn 88h's selling new now for more than $2500 even at discount houses- this should be a great buy. This is a best fit for the first F attachment horn for a student or a backup horn for someone not wanting to take his  or her very expensive horn to a sporting event or pit orchestra.
I will ship well packed to the lower 48 states for $55 and elsewhere for actual cost by US Postal service. Europe and Japan should expect to pay about $100 for shipping. No Reserve of Buy It Now on this one. auction will set the price and High Bidder wins it!!!
