Great guy, a friend who worked @ Gibson turned me on to him & his guitars back in the mid-80'sAbe Wechter has enjoyed a long and enviable career as a luthier. Back in 1975, he started a 10-year run working as a designer and in artist relations at Gibson—a fortuitous gig that found him designing guitars for such legends as B.B. King and Al Di Meola. But his still-growing legacy as a builder of original and significant instruments was seeded in his partnership with Richard Schneider and their Kasha guitars. These radically braced instruments were licensed by Gibson for a time, and also became iconic in the form of John McLaughlin’s famous Shakti drone-string guitar.Wechter left Gibson in 1984 to build high-end guitars in his own shop. By 1994 he had arrived at a new original design, the Pathmaker. Wechter thought this model would have appeal in the form of a more affordable, factory-built version, so in 1997, he set up a factory in Paw Paw, Michigan, to build the bold-looking Pathmaker acoustic—a guitar that features a striking double-cutaway body and 19th-fret neck-to-body joint.I own 2 early "Pathmaker Acoustics 1- 6-strg & 1-12 Strg and plan to keep them forever!! Fine craftsmanship, killer  tone and w/22 frets on acoustics!! Has low imp input & high came w/guitars, so you can use an amp & through sound board (killer wide tone!) Then I added Sun-downers to both w/a vol & tone rolling small so I can play through three of any mix I wish, unbelievable, even in my feeble hands, better players come to me to try my guitars and are immediately in love!!Now based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Wechter offers a full line of traditional acoustic designs including dreadnoughts, parlors, OMs, and even resonator guitars. But the company’s signature guitar remains the Pathmaker, which has spawned a design family that now includes solid body electrics like the deluxe PM-7352—a guitar that Wechter claims can deliver studio-quality acoustic tones through the use of the Graph Tech Ghost Acousti-Phonic system. Made several models, classical, and at least 1 Highest priced M-burst, with Synth attach stuff, basically same style/body as mine, Mah-body, maple top, E-fret board, except mine is painted a beautiful mid-dark metallic blueThis Solid Body Metallic Blue is 1 of two I own, parting w/only the one.Perfect shape, this has been in closet since both arrived 2014 as Abe, got out of the business and these were the last 2 Blue and it was the least color made. Incredible guitar, best blend of the best of Gibson & Fender ++ Double cut away styled, 3 on a side tuners, great tremolo system, fantastic humbucker's w/coil tap switch, gets great single coil sound as well. I use the other one, as to not ever use this own!! 24 Fret E- board & beautiful case. Bad ass guitars, he should have sold more & been famous!!
