Up for sale, a 2008 Fender '57 reissue Stratocaster model ST57-TX in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This "Made in Japan" Strat is quite faithful to the model's earliest iteration in the 1950s and boasts a set of factory installed Fender USA Custom Shop Texas Special pickups! If you're looking to deliver classic sparkle and chime with your favorite Buddy Holly passages or Clapton "Blackie" fretwork, it's hard to beat this stunning sounding Stratocaster. Weighing in at 7lbs 10oz, this Strat has a bold tone with great clarity and the slightly pronounced midrange for which the higher wind Texas Special pickups are known. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with fresh 10-46 strings, this Strat is ready for the stage and studio! The maple neck has a medium C profile that borders on the more chunky side of things, with a round and substantial feeling shape. The 25 1/2" scale fretboard has a smooth gloss finish that makes it easy to slide up the fretboard unencumbered, with a 7 1/4" fretboard radius and traditional 1 5/8" nut width. The narrow vintage style fretwire ensures that this guitar truly does feel like its vintage brethren, and the frets show modest grooves beneath the plain strings on frets 1-9, with lighter flattening of the crowns until roughly the octave. There's plenty of fret height left, and the guitar plays cleanly with no buzzing or dead spots and solid intonation. The nut has been upgraded to a hand carved piece of bone, improving sustain and overall note clarity. On the headstock, the Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines have the correct vintage look, turn smoothly, and hold pitch well. All of the electronics work as they should, and the USA pickups are cleanly wired to a Japanese wiring harness with stock pots and five-way pickup selector switch. These Custom Shop pickups are an incredible value and feature all of the hallmarks of a vintage Fender design, with black bobbins, alnico magnets, and push-back cloth wiring. The vibrato has a large block for great sustain, and the unit is very responsive for smooth surfy warbles and deeper dives, jumping back into tune with ease. The gloss Daphne Blue finish tops off the classic '50s look, and the clear coat on the finish has actually yellowed slightly so that the color appears to split the difference between Daphne Blue and Surf Green (although it is conclusively the former).
Cosmetically the body shows a few small dings and light finish scratches, mostly relegated to the back of the instrument, along with a couple stray marks on the bass side of the face of the guitar as well. There are some scuffs on the back lower bout edge near the rear strap button, as well as light surface wear on the bridge saddles.Don't miss out on this Fender ST57 Stratocaster reissue that captures the look and feel of a '50s Strat, complete with a set of factory installed Fender Custom Shop Texas Special black bobbin pickups!
