1958 Vintage Grestch Clipper Arch Top Electric GuitarThis is a rare example of a 1958 Gretsch Clipper, serial number 29724, made in Brooklyn, New York. One important point about the 1958 Clipper....it has the original DeArmond Neck pickup....which gives great sound versatility ..... you can experience a nice jazz sound with the tone knob turned down....or dial in a nice bright sound for "House of the Rising Sun" or some fun "Rock-abilly" (the sounds are akin to the Gibson 335...personal opinion)...The 1958 Clipper was constructed with the wider 2 7/8 inch thick body for more vibrational enhancement. From 1959 and onward the Clipper body was slenderized...While Gretsch was making the Country Gentleman, the Nashville, and the Tennessean...the Clipper was a more entry level model and was retained in production successfully for 20 years...the '58 model presented with double F-Holes, single DeArmond pickup (which has a much warmer sound than the Hilo-Tron in my opinion), and the more vibrant 2 7/8 inch body. This particular Clipper presents with an intact binding. There is some discoloration and slight crazing of the binding inferior to the pick guard. The remaining binding retains a slight creamy creamy color and is intact.. The neck is very playable...and is flat with very nice intonation. I have an adjustable metal bridge in place for sustain and for individual intonation adjustment of each string. It is presently strung with Thomasik-Infield Jazz Swing JS 110 strings (flat wound)....they are nice. The Clipper comes with it's original hard shell Gretsch case which is in a well preserved condition with all hardware working...Bid with confidence..I have enjoyed this guitar for several years....being retired I am thinning out the heard and I hate to let this one go but find myself playingmore acoustic guitar these days.Enjoy
