The 1961 Les Paul featured a one-piece slim genuine mahogany body and Slim Taper neck, two cutaways resulting in small pointy horns, beveled edges and no more body binding. Les Paul was not enamored with the new guitar, and his name was removed in 1963 renamed "SG" (Solid Guitar). This Gibson Custom Shop SG Standard Reissue is a painstakenly built reproduction of the original, as made famous in the early days by great players like Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Angus Young, Frank Zappa, Jerry Garcia, Pete Townsend, Elliot Easton, Dickey Betts, and in recent years Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes among many other greats. This rare SG Standard Reissue is Lightly Aged by hand by artists in the Gibson Custom Shop who painstakenly add just enough wear to convince you the guitar is a very well maintained SG from 50 years ago.
