Description
Any discussion centered around the topic of greatest electric guitars of all time will inevitably lead to the Stratocaster. The Strat is as Iconic in America as Muscle cars and apple pie. In the 70s and 80s the guitar industry hit the skids it terms of quality -Fender no longer had any ties to it's founder and started pumping out cheap made and worse sounding versions of it's namesake strats. This gave rise to the Boutique Guitar business. Small Builders who refused to compromise on build quality maintaining small shops with the very best builders turning out small numbers of exceptional guitars.
Dave Schecter was one of the first and today original Schecters are some of the most prized guitars of the 70s and early 80s. At Schecter, a large debt was owned to Tom Anderson for his innovative designs and the pickups he created. Schecter is now long departed from it's founded much as with Leo and Fender but Schecter still uses the pickup specs and designs of Tom Anderson.
Since the mid-late 80s Tom Anderson has carried on building under his own name under a simple but impeachable promise: to build the best guitars possible. As a decades long collector of fine guitars I can tell you without question Tom Anderson is still delivering on that promise. This guitar is gorgeous! One look and you see this is 100% classic elegance. This guitar reminds me of Neal Schons "Lights" strat. It has that purely vintage vibe, tone and feel. It ticks every box on the vintage fender list yet it is superbly modern. The neck feel is smooth has satin, the shape is as comfortable as I have every played. The frets are like butter. The neck joint is the best in the business so you get more sustain and deeper resonance. I have owned masterbuilt guitars from Fender -These are 5-7K builds so keep that in mind... yet none of those matched the tone and "feel" of this $3300 Tom Anderson. Yes, $3300 is a lot of money however, a real 1950s strat will cost you MANY times that amount and Fender's modern day equivalent is not in the same zip code as far as tone and feel go. To me, if you are looking for the ultimate strat, buy this! Buying a Fender today is like buying a Corvette made by Hyundai. There is zero connection between the originator and the builder. Tom Anderson is still the master of his own shop, His name is still on the headstock and his guitars are still the best made guitars possible.Guitar Model:Classic
