Tel: (316) 684-0291; FAX (316) 684-6858 "REPAIR SPECIAL" GERMAN BASSOON FROM THE MOENNIG BROTHERS, "ARTIST SPECIAL" MODEL.Serial number 11487.We're selling this bassoon "as-is" as a "repairman's special". It's a good German bassoon, but needs repair to bring it to the level we require for bassoons refurbished in our shop. With a long backlog of repairs, we simply don't have the time to devote to this one.Tone hole liners (not extending into the bore), keywork to high D, and left hand whisper key lock make the "Artist Special" one of Moennig's top models. All parts are original, nickel plating on the keys is not excessively worn.We think the original wood/lacquer finish is still intact, but has been "over-varnished" leaving a somewhat rough and uneven finish. Playing quality is, of course, unaffected by the rough varnish. There is a small crack to the long joint tenon which should be repaired.Pads and corks need to be be replaced. With a good case, but NO BOCALS, and NO WARRANTY.No return on this one, please. We need to clear the shelves!Low starting price on this good German bassoon should make it an interesting possibility for a repair technician with the time to give it the attention it deserves!
Please see more photos linked at the bottom of our listing! In January of this year, our small workshop in Wichita celebrated sixty-three years in business. We are not in the 1952 Wichita telephone directory, but we ARE in the 1953. We employ sixteen highly skilled full-time workers and enjoy, we’re happy to report, a sterling reputation for top-quality restoration and ethical transactions. We are not amateurs, nor are we a “back bedroom” operation. We would be pleased to furnish you with references attesting to the above. ALSO NOW AVAILABLE.... Two SCHREIBER model S-54 (water tubes, brass tenon caps) bassoons from the sixties and seventies, in LIKE NEW condition. With all new pads and corks and NOT expensive. ************************************************************************ Wichita Band Instrument Company is a small musical instrument emporium located in the center of the USA. We’ve been in business since 1953 and have had the same owner since 1963. Originally we were a repair shop that specialized in woodwind and sax restoration. Today we have 16 employees including eight of the finest repair technicians in the country. Virtually ALL the items we sell have been fully reconditioned in our own shop, although we do sell a few unrestored historical instruments each year. Due to the heavy demand for our services, we do few school repairs, and very few “walk-in” repairs.
