FASTER THAN A RUNAWAY TRAIN? YOU BET, IT'S A RACING RED A20v!!!Vintage and ultra-rare racing red 1984 Washburn Stage Series A-20v electric guitar in excellent + condition.  Please consider the below description in conjunction with all of the attached pics which form an integral (and all-important visual) part of this listing. This A20v has been with me since buying it brand spanking new from John’s Music in Canberra in 1984. It comes in its original contour-shaped plush interior Washburn case. These beauties never come up for sale so either: they are being held on to real tight or they have been thrashed and are regrettably too bad to sell.  In any case, there wouldn’t be too many around in as great a shape as this one. Sure it is a regrettable sale for me, but it has to go as I‘m 'resizing' my gear due to a major reduction in my live/studio work. Except the strings, absolutely every single item on it – hardware, pickups, knobs, wiring etc. - is in original “as purchased” and unmolested condition AND in perfect working order.  The A20v features an ash body with a maple flat top and white (now a nicely aged cream) binding, a three-piece through-body neck with a super-comfy v-profile, “Power Sustain” pups (with coil splitting via push-pull volume knobs), a brass nut, and a lightning-fast ebony fretboard with brass ‘ring’ fret markers.  It was built in Japan in the legendary Matsumoku factory. Follow these links for some further info, specs and old pics:  NO repairs, hardware/pickup swaps, mods or replacements whatsoever have ever been done to it in its 32 years of life. Everything is as it came out of the factory. Intonation and action were checked not long ago and it plays better, faster and more comfortably than a bunch of big name guitars currently going for up to 5 times its value. The A20v has really had an easy life (fret wear is minimal and she’s had no re-fret jobs) and basically spent 95% of its life in its case in a cupboard in a climate controlled environment. The extent of graceful natural ageing can hardly be noticed, never having been left out in the sunshine under UV light. Its glossy racing red finish is almost as good as when new. Basically The A20v is in remarkable condition with the exception of what some musos call 'mojo'. On the A20v this means a few light marks (not scratches) on the back of the body (from playing it) - I could not get these to come up in pics from various angles; and three more visible but tiny dings which in no way affect sound or playability.  These can be clearly seen in the pics, please have a look and judge for yourself.  A few extra notes: (i) the case is in good shape and though the centre latch works fine and latches it cannot be key-locked; (ii) the trem springs back access cover is off in the photos (as I never have it on on any guitar) and will be placed back on the guitar before dispatch; and (iii) you may have noticed the two tiny lower screws missing from the truss rod cover - I removed these early on (they are lost...) as they touched the bottom of the A and B strings, this being the only small but annoying design fault on the entire guitar.  In conclusion, this is a mighty fine, rare, extremely well-built and well-cared for instrument from an era where second-tier manufacturers like Washburn were unashamedly taking on the bigger brands by designing and building well-crafted instruments, that proved better playing/sounding than their rivals and gave guitarists a much bigger bang for their buck.  Regardless of price, good luck trying to find another one in as great and unmolested shape as this unit.  Follow this link to check this other one out. It was on sale about a year ago in the US for US$ 1100 (AU$ 1400) and it was in poor non-original condition (dodgy mods, questionable whammy bar setup, etc. etc.) I am happy to examine offers which are considerate of the guitar’s condition, its rarity and its place in the evolution of Japanese electric guitar craftsmanship. If you have done your research and are after or just love these beauties you know what I am saying is spot-on.  In that context I will not bother to reply to disrespectful offers. Thank you for looking and reading this far. I realise it's been a long journey but I felt I would not do justice to the guitar if I kept the narrative too brief.  Please message me with any other questions you might have and I’ll do my best to reply as quickly as I can. Also check out my other items as I have more ‘gems’ on sale just hanging out to find a new loving home… THE FINE PRINT:
