Exquisite, carved, relic'd, antique 1800's style, brass-back, Parlor guitar from recycle artist J. Quantrell (hot horns/upright bass/vocalist Bossophone).Custom modified, carved front w. tiny glass jewel inlays, one-of-a-kind faceplate w. 3 ornate carved sound holes (center, left & right) w. vintage woven grill cloth fabric, custom tailpiece & pick guard, carved ornate head stock. Back has brass resonator disc & marquetry inlay look upper bout, all for added body mass & enhanced tonality & sustain. Custom, carved face guard is rubbed ebony finish w. custom, hand-cut music note designs for very unique sound hole configuration. Portrait inlay panels depict 1880's gentlemen & locomotive engine on front w. extensive scroll marquetry inlay look designs on black background. Sides have Victorian style portrait inlay look w. repeated diamond look pattern all the way around. Back has Thoroughbred racehorse inlay look portrait surrounded w. scroll inlay look designs on upper bout. Fret board is covered w. varied, oyster, mother-of-pearl look (lovingly worn though in a few spots), and has ornate style, mocha & copper fret markers & is trimmed w. pearl look binding. Front & back are edged w. pearl look binding. Plenty of rubbed off, relic'd, patina'd, worn vintage vibe. Few light scratches in just the right places. Signed by the artist.Straight neck, adjustable truss rod, low, playable action. Custom, carved rosewood saddle & precision cut bone-style bridge & head nut. Tuning keys are newly replaced & function well. Measures 38" total length, body measures 19" long, 14" wide at lower bout, 9 1/2" wide at upper bout, 4 1/2" deep. Full sized instrument chosen for it's antique-style, parlor body shape.Stunning, olde-fashioned appearance & enhanced sound character, unusual, antique body shape plus added mass makes this instrument have a ringing, sustained, tonality. A brittle, durable, water proof, industrial coating protects it's beauty & helps give it a bright tone. Aged, yellowed appearance in finish is intentional to add to it's aged look. A fantastic addition to any collectible, sure to attract attention.Custom parts are not removable (I've had purchase/pirate/resell/repair messes).
