Estimated price for orientation: 2 395 $
Category: Guitar Amplifiers
Class:
Description
I purchased this amp years ago from the original owner who walked in to a music store outside L.A. in 1962 and bought this amp along with a Fiesta Red Precision bass. It is a really clean, original, December 1961 (date code KL) blonde Bassman amp with rough tolex. The cabinet is from early 1962, as was the common practice in the day of selling a head and cab off the showroom floor. This is a fantastic set that sounds great in addition to looking stellar. There are only a few small scuffs to the tolex, and the grille cloth is without holes and extremely clean. The tube chart indicating Model 6G6-A is an old fashioned "mimeographed" version that Fender resorted to for a short time in 1961. It is readable, however somewhat faint. Transformer numbers are as follows: Power 125P5B,606149; Choke 125C1A,606125; Output 125A5A,606146. Speakers are stock Oxford Alnico 12", not the more common ceramic speakers, model 12L6N-15, date code 465218. This amp is great for collector or player. It sounds excellent with guitar or amp, and has volume if needed. All original Ajax capacitors look to be present, and I see no evidence of circuit board component mischief. I don't even see that any original solder was ever broken. Tubes, of course, have been changed over time. Serial number BPO1400. Consider this one seriously if looking for the highly desireable blonde/oxford grille Bassman piggyback. Thanks for checking out. I can be reached at 520-954-5571, if you have questions. Please see my other vintage amp and guitar auctions.Sale is for continental US, lower 48 states only for this auction. Payment is due within 48 hrs of auction end. There are no returns on 55 year old vintage equipment like this amp, however, item is guaranteed to be as represented. I do want you to be happy. Amp and head will be packed separately. They will be packed well (I've done this before many times), shipped and insured via FedEx Ground, and tracking info provided to buyer.
