1919 Gibson A4 mandolin with original case (handle obviously missing) 1 owner ser # is faded but seems to read 45288 rare sunburst color for this era . A lot of A4 s of this era seem to be either claret color or chestnut brown. no repairs or refin .Tortoise pick guard has unfortunately crumbled away. Oval sound hole and stinger finish on back of head stock .Has on small crack in face that begins near where the pg was stops at the sound hole and continues under sound hole for about 1/12 inches (very tiny and thin crack at this point . The cracks cause no vibration when played This thing sings !!! nice and bright tone has original gears that are stiff at this point but work .original tailpiece and cover as well. for its age, the action and play ability as well as the tone are SUPREME!!. a little settling in face under bridge (very acceptable Im told for the age) bridge and nut also original currently strung with martin 80/20 strings
