Description 1964 Vox AC50.Vox are one of the most iconic brands in the music industry, built to the highest quality and becoming extremely collectable in the modern market. What is more, the AC50 is one of the first classic Vox amplifiers, favoured by The Stones, The Beatles, and many more!Although we cannot prove this, the previous owner stated he purchased this from a charity who had been donated a tonne of Brian Jones' Vox amplifiers back in the late 60s. As stated, we cannot prove this. We've tried to find as much information as possible to support this supposed owner but have had no luck. It would be extremely cool if it was the truth!This particular version of the AC50 was only made for a few months - the crossover between the classic Diamond Input, Copper Panel, to the big box 2 channel AC50. The cap codes, serial number and modelling all date this to mid 1964.Product Details Serial Number: 1506Power Valves: 2x EL34 & 1x GZ34Pre-Amp Valves: 4x ECC83 Power Valve Brands: 3x MullardPre-Amp Valve Brands: 2x Electro Harmonix & 1x Unbranded & 1x SovtekTransformers: OriginalTransformer Codes: D8869 (only visible)Service History We pride ourselves on the inspection, authentication, and service of each amplifier, making this ready to plug in and play. Valves all tested serviceable on this amplifier (but may need changing if you desire a matched set). It was making a loud humming noise when we got the amplifier, but found it to be a faulty volume pot on the normal channel. This was replaced and tested all ok.Please note that it is the philosophy of The Music Locker to keep all amplifiers as original as possible, only changing original components when absolutely necessary. This includes valves, capacitors, transformers, potentiometers, etc. This gives the buyer the option of tailoring to their exact needs, and may mean that the amplifier is not operating at optimum performance levels. Therefore, your personal preference may differ, depending on your circumstances (i.e. collector or musician), and you may decide to service the amplifier in more depth upon receiving. The Music Locker cannot accept responsibility for any costs of refurbishment to a standard different to the one advertised. Cosmetic Inspection This is in good, used condition.
