The Regulating Rack with Template Set provides the profile of a grand piano's strings along the strike line. Select sizes from The Template Set to match the sections of a grand action and fix them to the rail so their lower edges represent strike (see the ). Spanning the entire action, the RR either hugs the sides of the keyframe on a workbench or rides in tracks on a (in a ). LED lights in the rail illuminate both templates and hammers. Stop collars above and below the rail set strike at the top and hammerline at the bottom. With the help of (that come with the RR), set up letoff for the whole action in seconds. Record hammer spacing at strike along the profile's edges with a Sharpie pen (also included). Play hammers off the templates into check for real backchecking height and validate with Gauge Keys. The Regulating Rack is light-weight and easy to lift into place for squaring or hanging hammers at strike - the spot where hammers need to be vertically balanced above their shanks with horizontal crowns for the string-to-hammer fit!
