Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a stupid rare 1959 (or there-abouts) Maestro Super GA 46 2 X 12 vintage guitar amplifier, the even more rare twin sister to the the Gibson GA200 Rhythm King. I am also selling the twin to this amp the 59 Gibson Ga-200 Rhythm King 2 X 12 as seen in the one pic on another Ebay listing. Any way this was basically Gibson's version of a Fender Twin. There were not a lot of these made during the very few years in production, it was the top of the line for a mono Gibson amp. I have owned both of these amps for the better part of 25 years and have never used them or had then serviced, which they both need, I just had them on display at my shop back in Philly, and in storage for the last 9 years since I moved to NY. The Maestro amp is in really decent original cosmetic condition, but does show wear. The plastic Gibson model tag that would be on the control panel is missing, as is a little bit of the white "M" on the Maestro badge on the grill cloth. When I got this amp which I found a few years prior to the Gibson version, I thought those drawer pull looking handles on the sides of the cabinet were something someone added, so I took them off and tossed them!!! When I came across the Gibson version a few years later, my heart sank when I saw those same handles on that amp!!! Remember, I got these basically prior to the internet, so references were hard to come by back then!!! Oh well, so it is missing those 2 handles. Anyway, the original grill cloth is pretty nice. The original snakeskin and black 2 tone tolex shows some wear as expected of an amp of this age. It fires up and everything works including the trem circuit and the amp gets loud, but was crackling pretty bad, so I shut if off pretty quickly so not to do any damage to the rare original speakers, trannys or other components, so it will most likely need a cap job, and all the pots and contacts cleaned, and just a good thorough going thru. All the components seem original including the rare dust covered made in Holland Alnico 12" speakers. I am selling this for a LOT less than what I see them listed for so that you still will be getting a great deal on the amp after being service, and if you can do the work yourself, even better!!!! Check out my other listing for the Gibson version of this amp, which is pretty much identical, except the Maestro also has a trem circuit, the Gibson does not. I am taking both of these amps to the Syracuse guitar show on Nov 19, so I can try and sell them there so I do not have to ship them, so if you are seriously interested, I would get a hold of me prior to that!!! Thanks, Rob 315 298 6797. Please look at all the pics and ask any questions you may have. If you need to see more pics, let me know of what. Shipping will always be combined when possible!
