Description 1963 Hofner Super Solid (173) III.The 'Super Solid' is one of the first semi-pro lines that Hofner brought out in the early 60s to compete with the likes of Fender and Gibson. It eventually evolved into the Hofner Galaxie, but started its life as the Super Solid. They come in 1, 2 and 3 pickup versions and are extremely rare to come by in this sort of condition.This is almost certainly from 1963, with the Translucent Red Colour, White Rotary Knobs, 'Super' Pickups, and a serial of 1464, all helping to date this beauty.Product Details Body: Original trans red w/ light crazing
Neck: Bolt on maple neck & bound rosewood fingerboard, lined pearl inlays, black headstock.Hardware: 4-way switch and volume, tone, tone, tone knobs toggling the original 'Super' pickups.
