What you're seeing here is probably the one and only Fender Champ with a wrong serial number. Wow!!!
A unique piece for collectors. But, first of all, the guitar is completely original and plays like butter. Otherwise it's equipped with the holy grail, the early '50 Tele pickup.
I've opened it up when I bought it to check the inside. You know how many of these are on sale with just the body and the tuners (maybe)... the heart is usually gone to get installed in a Tele, in the best case.
When I have opened it up there was the usual wood powder coming off the screw holes, that means the guitar has never been opened before.
Good.
But the unique characteristic of this beauty is the mistake on serial number. Check it out. As probably many of you know, Leo didn't use to throw anything at that time and spared also the air he used to breathe. So it seems the guy who was stamping the serials forgot to update the number before stamping this one, so instead throwing a whole bridge (lol) he stamped the 1 over the 0.
Making this lap steel a unique sample in the world. I guess if he made another mistake at that time, he'd probably got fired instantly.
I bought the guitar to play it but in the end I've tried it two times, the first comparing it to another sample, the second with a different ampli.
So she did spend the time laying in the closet. Too bad.
Since I'm NOT a collector, I'm selling it because a guitar is not a painting or a pictures, it's made to get played.
It doesn't have the original case, which is the shaped one, NOT the square. Difficult to find one in good conditions, expecially because they were crappily made, basically with cardboard.
