Selling this Carl Barney Deluxe model archtop. It's a hollowbody with hand-carved spruce top, birdseye maple back and sides, and an ebony fretboard with abalone inlays. The tailpiece appears to be rosewood, and the bridge is either rosewood or ebony. It has a volume and tone knob. One of the features that drew me to this guitar at first was the neck joint at the 16th fret, which allows for nice access to the upper frets. The pickup was changed to a Handwound Kent Armstrong floating pickup. Built in 1978, the older wood sounds and feels great. It's in pretty good shape overall, but it has definitely been played over the years, so there are nicks and dings on the top, and there are a few aspects to the cosmetics worth mentioning: 1) The Grover tuners are non-original and the original tuner screw holes have been filled. 2) The truss rod cover seems to be a replacement, as there is an extra screw hole with a screw missing. 3) The side of the fretboard on the low E side has some very small filled-in holes where it looks like a pickup was previously suspended by a rod. (Probably something like a Dearmond at one time.) 4) There are similar markings in the binding near the pickguard, where either a pickguard was perhaps previously removed. 5) There are some light lines in the finish near the tailpiece. 6) There are two extra holes in the pickguard near the pickup. 7) There is a bit of deterioration on the abalone on a couple of the frets markers. Hardshell case included. Lower bout 16 inches, body depth 3 1/4 inches, weight is 7.5 lbs. I believe this is a very good value.
