The steel while also being the perfect medium to display the beautiful Trussart custom finishes also has tonal advantages.The Trussart SteelCaster tone is a uniquely annunciated sound that, combined with the resonant qualities of the hollow steel body can range from sweet, crystal clear tones to aggressive screaming lead tones. The construction of these instruments is only half of the story, the other half is the finish, and every instrument comes with a history and a slight element of neglect, of decay, so it has a personality of its own. James Trussart is a musician-turned-luthier. The French native began his career as a fiddler, accompanying Cajun singer-songwriter Zachary Richard in the late 70s before turning his attention to crafting violins and later guitars (in the 1980s). From his Los Angeles home and workshop Trussart crafts custom steel-bodied guitars, basses and violins in a stunning array of finishes, reminiscent of the shiny chrome resonator instruments and rusty, weathered, fossilized machinery. The tone is so distinctive that Trussart guitars have become "must-have" in the arsenals of influential artists Bob Dylan, Keith Richards, Paul Simon, Eric Clapton, Billy Gibbons, Daniel Lanois, Joe Perry, Joe Walsh, Jack White and many, many more.
