Vintage Early Babbitt Otto Link STM 8 Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece This piece was originally a 5* but was opened to about an 8 by Marc Yacoubian, a woodwind and mouthpiece specialist from southern California. Marc was a physicist by trade and created some the most tonally-balanced pieces I have ever played... spectacular intonation and centeredness of sound. While this piece is an early Babbitt, Marc extensively modified the chamber by carving out extra space in the floor (see photos). As such, it has a richer sound than most Babbitts. The altissimo is unbelievably rich and easy to play. This is a beautiful mouthpiece sculpted by a master craftsman. I have essentially decided to play either a florida USA or Florida no USA and am consequently selling all my Babbitts. I would also be happy to email anyone interested a video of me playing the mouthpiece. Please email with questions!
