What a once in a lifetime gift for yourself or another! A Gibson, Les Paul, Zakk Wylde Custom Vertigo is up for grabs. This is a super rare and retired from production guitar, so this may be your only chance to own one. I immediately fell in love with the sound and soul of this machine. It surpassed my wildest dreams. Unfortunately I was only able to play it twice before being deployed. I even wore jogging pant to avoid scratching the back.
The guitar’s innovator, Zakk Wylde is distinguished as one of the most savage players in all of rock, and has made his mark on everything from the tours and recordings of Ozzy Osbourne, to his own Black Label Society, to a wide range of solo outings and collaborations. Throughout it all, his outlandish style has been every bit as distinctive as his searing solos and eviscerating tone—as witnessed on the Zakk Wylde Vertigo Les Paul.
The Zakk Wylde Vertigo Les Paul features all the traditional tonewoods and craftsmanship that have made the Les Paul a legend, along with Zakk’s preferred specs for optimum playability, and his choice of kicking EMG™ active humbucking pickups for unparalleled output and sustain. The swirling look was inspired by the graphics used on the poster for Alfred Hitchcock’s classic movie, Vertigo. It was a guitar design that Zakk first imagined back in the ’80s.
According to Gibson, this amazing guitar comes by its name honestly, thanks to the body’s “vertigo-inducing ‘twisted bullseye’ that creates an optical illusion that’s nearly as powerful as the music that you’ll make with it.” But that isn’t the only thing that makes it special — it’s crafted with a “solid Grade-A” maple top and a mahogany back, topped with a maple fingerboard (again, Grade-A) and overlaid with Zakk’s preferred custom fret wire.
The Vertigo also includes a handful of what Gibson’s calling “custom-style appointments,” including “7-ply top binding, 5-ply back binding, and multi-bound headstock with acrylic inlays.” And if that weren’t enough, each one is sequentially numbered — and the back of the headstock is stamped with a Zakk silhouette decal.
As far as power goes, the Vertigo runs on EMG humbuckers, with an EMG-85™ in the neck and an EMG-81™ in the bridge, each with independent volume and tone controls — equipment that Gibson says is “the first choice of many thrash, shred and metal players, and they yield unparalleled output and sustain for utterly demolishing neck pickup tones and incendiary bridge tones, yet with impressive clarity and a frequency response unmatched by any other pickup available.”
The guitar will be shipped in the original box, hard shell case and with everything sent to me from the Gibson distributor.
