1999 Gibson SG Special, Bareknuckle pickups, hardcase

This is my Gibson SG Special from 1999, with Bareknuckle Crawler pick ups (cost £210 for a new set!!!!!) and a tweed hardcase. This 1999 SG Special predates the faded special, and has the full red cherry high gloss nitro - it looks beautiful ! The bareknuckle crawler pick ups have a strong midrange, and cut through the mix with ease, superbly articulate, warm and defined too. They shine with overdrive, they are very percussive there. The guitar has been gigged and used, it's a rock monster, and shows it with a number of small dings, marks and scratches - I'm not pretending it's mint, it's been used, but not abused, and has the marks that go with a nearly 20yo regularly gigged guitar. Please note that a lot of the marks and dings don't show particularly well in the pics. The guitar does look like what you see, but some small marks and dings will be apparent looking up close. The back of the guitar also show some nitro checking ( see the faint horizontal lines in the pics) that comes with age and look super cool!
The frets are pretty good with plenty of life left. It's a fantastic rock machine, set up with perfect neck relief, buzz free low action (it can be set lower, still buzz free, but then if I bend a string during a solo, the other strings slip under my finger as too low - just to highlight how good the neck is on that beauty!), perfect intonation, and that playability combined with the amazing pick ups make it a fantastic combination !
Also grover tuners have been fitted (can't say they are mechanically better than the original, but they are smoother to use) and the strap pins currently are strap locks pin - I'm keeping the strap though has I have other guitars with strap locks, and can replace the strap pins with regular gibson pins if you prefer and don't have a strap with strap lock fitting (to be honest, I'd recommend you do get some strap locks as they are safer). Full gloss nitro SG of that era often sell around £500 on their own, here you get Bareknuckle and case for a little more!
