Classic Vintage Recording Studio & Engineering is selling its Adcom GFA-5800 250/400W stereo XLR balanced studio monitor power amp. This unit was made in the US and sounds incredibly transparent!I was using it as my nearfield studio monitor power amp. Great for driving speakers up to high volume levels with virtually no distortion, harshness, or listening fatigue. It's incredibly well-built and reliable - it has worked flawlessly for the many years I've used it. XLR-balanced input switchable to unbalanced RCA operation. -Class A front-end and Class A power section up to 10 watts - switches to Class AB in the power section above 10 watts. -250 watts into 8 ohms - 400 watts into 4 ohms. High quality parts throughout - giant toroidal power transformer, low-noise precision-matched 1% metal film and metal oxide resistors; gold plated XLR's and new gold-plated RCA's and binding posts; power MOSFETs in high-end TO-3 package for high-reliability and easy serviceability.Recently serviced - bias and DC offset adjusted according to manual. Of course, for the best operation of your amp, it is recommended to re-calibrate after shipping by your tech. Tested just for this auction on 11/20/2016.User manual, service manual, and schematic available online for free.Flaws: a few dents and scratches from when it was shipped to me. I take the time to ship properly, so you won't have that issue.Needs a standard IEC power cord. Adcom recommends 14AWG wire. If I find my heavy-duty cable, I will include it.This amp is heavy @ 59lbs, so take that into account when evaluating shipping costs.No returns or refunds on used items like this - so be sure to ask all questions before purchase - I'd be happy to help!
