Offer here is a 2007 Gretsch Country Gentleman, aka, the “6122 1958 Reissue”. What’s special about this one: I bought it as an investment years ago and it basically has never been played—the clear seal tape remains on the pickguard and the bigsby is still in its factory protective covering. I played it the day I bought it; and then stored it away in a temperature controlled environment with other archtops in my collection. I played it a bit before taking the pictures today. I hadn’t heard it for years: I grew up playing Chet’s style, and then went in the classical and, eventually, jazz directions. It sounds like Chet! Wow, I had forgotten how cool a Bigsby is.
Everything works and it is in pristine condition—no nicks, bumps, bruises, scratches—it is truly mint.(The second picture has a camera flash at the lower left; it is not a defect in the finish.
Includes it original Gretsch case, which is also in mint condition. I’m selling it now because I have too many archtops. It’s time to thin the herd—a herd that I have very carefully brought together over the years. Oh the frustration of aging! The collecting has been great fun…. The Country Gentleman is one of the most popular of the Gretsch Chet Atkins Models. It's a Cadillac in the world of bigsby guitars—a tried and true hollow body that all kinds of players rate with the best. When I bought it in 2008, the retail price was around $4000.00. The serial number is on the back of the head: JT07082829 indicates that the guitar was made at the Japan Terada factory (JT) in 2007 (07) during the month of August (08) as the 2829thGretsch guitar made at the factory that year. I prefer to ship guitars at priority: They don’t stay in trucks for long, get to you faster, and receive more careful handling. Please, if you have questions, write. We’re online all the time. We have more pictures than are listed on the auction site. Send your email address and we'll send you more. Here is the list of specs.Body Style: Single Cutaway
