Offering my Fender Kurt Cobain Mustang in RARE sonic blue. This looks to be the ONLY Fender KC sonic blue model currently offered online! This one of a kind guitar boasts highly distinctive features including an angled single-coil Mustang neck pickup and very hot Seymour Duncan® JB humbucking bridge pickup mounted directly to the body, dual on-off/phase in-out switches for each pickup, a polyester-finished alder body and an Adjusto-Matic™ bridge with dynamic vibrato tailpiece. (This is simply Fender branding for the Gotoh Tune-O-Matic). The body was made in Japan in the same factory as Kurt's actual Mustangs made for him. It has 22 Vintage frets with a rosewood fretboard and a maple neck. The Alder body is an upgrade to the poplar used on the 65' re-issues to match KC's spec. The finish is superb and the color is awesome! Other features include the classic 24" Mustang scale length on a original Made in USA, Vintage 1974 Fender Mustang neck (S/N 607760, from the original neckplate but not stamped on neck -- verified with Fender), C-shaped maple with urethane finish, ivory dot inlays, four-ply Tortoiseshell pickguard, master volume and tone controls, vintage-style F-tuners, and chrome hardware. This matches KC's original guitar neck years on most of his favored guitars pre-Ferrington Custom. Guitar has been professionally set up and all electronics have been verified original and set to spec. Given the neck is 43 years old it has some blemishes however it is straight, has original nut, frets (excellent condition with very little wear), and truss rod, finished with new reissue F-tuner, true to the original '74 spec. Feels really good and plays fast!! The body has only about 20 hours play time and sounds incredible! The sustain is bold and long even acoustically played. Pair with the orange boss DS-1 and all Nirvana sounds are spot-on! Comes with a Fender gig bag and will consider throwing in the DS-1 if you don't have it ... completes the guitar!! Someone said 'this guitar evokes the man, the band, the sound and the times, and gives an authentically crafted nod to one of the most unlikely guitars to ever find itself at the center of a musical maelstrom'. All I know is it is seriously impressive in every way and no one can come into my house and pass it without paying a complement to it's beauty! Perhaps a Christmas present for the Nirvana fan who has everything, or the person who wants to rock out loud!
