This Avalon is a well-rounded acoustic with excellent playability and tone.
The most noticeable aspects visually are the perfectly aged Sitka spruce top and luscious and even-grained cuts of rosewood that grace the back and sides of this guitar. Its tone is perfectly compressed in the low end, smooth in the mid-range,                   and crisp with pleasant chime in the top end.
It also features Fishman’s Prefix Plus electronics system that offers                       extensive control over the amplified tone and translates the inherent acoustic tone        with transparency.

Avalon Guitars AS200CE Silver SeriesOverall Rating    Submitted: May 12th, 2006by JohnblackSound Quality
This sound is amazing especially with the treble and bass, i've been suffering from my old acoustic that simply couldn't handle any treble. I did have moments of thinking that the bass sound ws a little thin, it was strung with EXP's (i think of a reasonable guage prob 12+) which i think was the problem cause when i change4d to elixir 11's the sound was f**king amazing, now i cant put it down and saving to get something in along the line of the legacy series. Amazing especially in DADGAD and open C this guitar has changed my playing top notch
Reliability/Durability
This guitar seems hard wearing, i've only had it 6 months so i cant really assess this
but everything to do with the construction sounds solid

Just superb, I really like the full tones, possible to get some volume from the preamp too which can be a problem with lesser quality electro acoustics
Reliability/Durability
All hardware seems to be top quality - it's early days for mine but it feels like it will still be going strong in 50 years - first class for this price range!

I picked this guitar out from a host of Taylors, Martins, Takemines and Gibsons and it easily held its own withem all. It sounds amazing Di'd into our sound system. I play fingerstyle most of the time and the sound is right there.
Reliability/Durability
I've done a lot of gigs with this guitar. That's why I bought it. Nothing's fallen off so far. I always used Keith Carlton cases. You can drive a bus over them. If you look after a guitar, it will look after you.
General Comments
I've been playing since 1963.I own a Martin 00028, Gibson J45, Takemine G series 12 string, Yamaha F200, Epiphone Bluesman parlour guitar.1964 Harmony Rocket, 4 Strats. 2 Tele's, Antoria Jazzstar (L5 copy) Sitar, 29 string celtic harp and a kazoo. If somebody stole my Avalon I'd buy another but it would have to be as good as this. Some guitars are one off's and judging by some of the other reviews, I think mine is.

I have an Avalon DS200E Silver series acoustic. Solid spruce top with laminate rosewood back and sides. I have owned some fairly high end guitars...Martins and Guilds. I have to tell you that for the money I am exceedingly happy with my Avalon. The tone and volume is just great whether fingerpicked or strumming. The fishman electronics sound great. I changed to tusq bridge pins and lower the action a little and changed from D'addario's to Thomastik Infield Plectrum strings. I prefer the action and the tone of the Avalon to my $2600.00 american made guitar....to the point where I just listed it on Ebay. There is no doubt I would like to get my hands on an Avalon Legacy but for the money this little Silver is hard to beat.
by » Thu Mar 16, 2006 4:05 pm I have a Silver Series dreadnought, with spruce top, indian rosewood back and sides
The reason I went for a Silver was because I cannot justify paying nearly a thousand pounds for a Gold when I have young kids to bring up.
I have not regretted my purchase.
It is one beautiful sounding guitar. The tone is well balanced, with a good separation of notes. The overall sound is sonorous and has great character. The Basses and trebles are fantastic.
According to the Avalon Website, the Silver Series have all the characteristics of the more expensive range, and I would agree, after extensively playing the thing for a few months now.
