This is an extremely rare Yamaha Maple Custom 16x16 genuine floor tom with 3 legs in the hard to find Vintage Natural finish. Yamaha Maple customs in the Vintage Natural finish have a richer sound than the other finishes, are seldom seen for sale and are highly sought after. It is in excellent overall condition.
The Japanese-made Maple Custom series was Yamaha's flagship line until the introduction of the PHX series. Yamaha has since discontinued the Maple Custom line. It was last listed in their 2008 catalog. This drum should not be confused with their later Maple Custom Absolute series, or the current Chinese-made Absolute Hybrid Maple series. This is the original, thick shell (7 ply floor toms) Maple Customs. The manufacturing date on this drum is October 2008, making it one of the last Maple Customs ever produced.The drum is in excellent condition, with two very minor cosmetic issues of note. First is a small area of a black, slightly rough spot on the panel opposite the badge. This appears to be a naturally-occurring irregularity in the wood grain. The other is a small scratch, approximately 1/4" long. Both are shown in the pictures. The Vintage Natural finish is beautiful and has darkened slightly with age, as it is designed to do. Bearing edges are flawless. There is absolutely no sign of rust or pitting on any chrome.The drum has a frosted Evans EC2 batter head and a clear Evans G1 resonant head in excellent condition. The rims are 2.3 mm Dyna-Hoops. The drum has Yamaha's YESS system leg brackets and three floor tom legs in excellent condition. This drum sounds as good as it looks - change out the heads if you prefer different ones and tune it to your liking!I accept PayPal only.
