Exceptional, carved, relic'd, antique 1900's style, cowboy guitar from J. Quantrell (hot horns/upright bass/vocalist Bossophone).Custom modified, carved front & back featuring front faceplate w. 3 ornate carved sound holes (center, left & right) w. vintage woven grill cloth fabric, metal sustain tailpiece, custom pick guard, oversized, carved, ornate Empire head stock. Back has carved layer spine, body disc & carved upper bout scroll rosetta, all for added body mass & enhanced tonality & sustain. Custom, carved faceguard is rubbed silver finish w. delicate etched look, music note designs. Portrait inlay panels depict plains cowboy & horse on front, geometric, marquetry inlay look designs on sides & a mountain meadow ranch scene on back. Fret board is covered w. varied, oyster, mother-of-pearl look (lovingly worn though in a few spots), has deeper aqua Studio style fret markers & is trimmed w. pearl look binding. Front is covered w. Bone white and Prairie blue illustrated marquetry designs & edged w. pearl look binding. Plenty of rubbed off, relic'd, worn vintage vibe.Straight neck, adjustable truss rod, low, playable action. Floating, rosewood saddle & precision cut bone-style head nut. Vintage style, ivory tuning keys are new & function well. Measures 41" total length, body measures 19" long, 15" wide at lower bout, 12" wide at upper bout, 4 1/2" deep. Full sized instrument chosen for it's antique-style body shape.Handsome, olde-fashioned appearance & enhanced sound character, unusual, antique body shape plus added mass makes this instrument have a ringing, sustained, tonality. A brittle, durable, water proof, industrial coating protects it's beauty & helps give it a bright tone. Aged, yellowed appearance in finish is intentional to add to it's aged look.
