This is a killer Dave Johnson Restorations '58 Les Paul Standard weighing 9 lbs. 3 oz. Without question the most realistic 'vintage looking' Les Paul we have seen. Features a vintage accurate C shaped neck taken from a real burst that was in Dave's shop with a'Dirty Lemon Burst' finish, with "shadows" under the front pickup ring and pick guard, Brazilian, dark pitted vintage looking Rosewood fringerboard with Dave Johnson celluloid aged inlays, real weather checking and heavily distressed finish by Dave Johnson. The guitar started life as a Gibson Custom Shop Historic Les Paul Standard and was converted to ’58 specifications as follows, with a decription from Mark Bishop at Mark's Guitar Loft who originally sold this guitar: Aged by Dave Johnson to recreate a hard gigged “Bar Fly” Les Paul that has been in and out of bars for 40 years....and he nailed it. Real vintage Nitrocellulose laquer with real cold weather checking (no razor blades were used )
Brazillian Rosewood fretboard added with aged Dave Johnson inlays. TruVintage Mark’s Guitar Loft Vintage Spec harness with real 50’s Sprague Bumblebee caps. DMC Rings, Dave Johnson AVH aged pickguard, Retrospec aged poker chip, aged nickel jackplate, Monster Relic 50’s Bonnet knobs aged, OX4 Double White PAF pickups, (originally fitted with Fillmore Zebras which are included), Grover aged “Milkbottle” Vintage correct Rotomatics. Serial 8 1138 (was a ’57 reissue serial that is stamped on the edge of the inside of the cavity.) Cavity is stamped R7 as that is what it was originally. The pics show a real relic here….and it certainly is. But, in person you’ll be shocked at how “right” it looks in person. Its super tasteful and not dingy or dirty whatsoever in person. Looks, plays and sounds like an original Vintage Les Paul. What can I tell you. Comes with letter from Dave Johnson, spec sheet from Mark’s website with all verification of parts on the guitar and what was done. It also comes with the original black book COA from Gibson with the original serial number, all Gibson hang tags and original black Gibson Custom hardshell case. In addition it will come with a beautiful hardcover photo book of pictures of the guitar. The book is signed by both Mark Bishop of Mark's Guitar Loft who is the exclusive dealer of Dave Johnson Makeover Les Pauls and Dave Johnson.
