A good antique french violin made after Celoniatus by Laberte circa 1930.Good antique french master violin made in the Laberte workshops in Mirecourt circa 1930 after Giovani Francesco Celoniatus. The violin has been carefully made and shows the good hand of the Laberte workers. The top is made of two parts of spruce and shows regular grain lines widening at the edges. The back is made of two beautiful parts of flamed maple, the curl gently ascending from the center joint. The ribs, neck and head are of the same wood. The violin was antiqued at the time it was made, and the oil varnish, of a brown color on a golden ground, is a wonder, and the natural wear through the time has joined the original artificial one. The head is well made, the purfling precise and regular : a very good french instrument.The violin is in a good condition, with a repair at the right of the fingerboard. The instrument has been set up with rosewood and bone pegs, rosewood tailpiece with ebony fret, the matching chinrest, a Despiau bridge and Thomastik Dominant strings.On the inside back can be found the original label of the Laberte workshops, "Modèle d'après Joannes Franciscus Celoniatus fecit Taurini anno 1734". The violin is garanteed 100% original and authentic.The sound is excellent, warm and mature, brilliant : a fine french concert violin that will allow you the most complete repertory.Dimensions are the following :LOB : 362 mm.Upper bouts : 168 mm.Middle bouts : 117 mm.Lower bouts : 210 mm.The instrument comes with a new rectangular case.
