Up for sale, a 1967 Gibson ES-345TD in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. One of Gibson's premier semi-hollowbody models and an enduring favorite, the ES-345TD is an upscale version of the 335, with gold hardware, a six position Varitione tone selector rotary switch, and stereo operation. Extremely well kept and featuring a vibrant and unfaded sunburst finish, this ES-345 has a feel that is instantly comfortable and intuitive, delivering a surprisingly commanding and full acoustic tone that translates flawlessly through the original patent sticker T Top humbuckers. The guitar weighs in at a modest 8lbs 8oz and balances well on a strap too. Through your favorite tube amp, the humbuckers have a richness and harmonic complexity that's reminiscent of the PAFs that came before them, and there's a delightfully clear and chiming quality from the bridge pickup with just a touch of growl and top end snap. In contrast, the neck humbucker has a mellowness, warmth, and bloom to the notes that's ideal for complex Jazz chord voicings or thickening up an overdriven lead line. Add the Varitone into the mix and you have five very distinct tones that accentuate midrange or conversely scoop those frequencies for great quack and a certain hollowness that can add distinction when fingerpicking. Still wired for Stereo operation as per factory specs, this ES-345TD has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar and dialed in with 11-50 roundwound strings.The one-piece mahogany neck has a unique C shaped profile almost exclusively seen on 1966-68 Gibsons, with a moderately slender C shape at the nut that fills out to full baseball bat chunk and roundness by the time you reach the 9th fret. It's a substantial feeling profile that makes chording easy at the nut and gives you plenty to grab on to when soloing further up the neck. The bound Brazilian rosewood fretboard features split trapezoid pearl inlays and original frets which have been recently professionally leveled and crowned, currently showing only the faintest wear in the first position beneath the G and B strings, with virtually no wear up the neck. The nut measures 1 9/16" in width. On the headstock, the original Kluson Deluxe double line gold tuning machines are intact with original lightly greened tulip buttons, along with a cleanly inlaid Gibson logo and original "Stereo" truss rod cover.All of the electronics work as they should, with the stock shielding cans still present on the pots and the transformer for the Varitone present beneath the bridge pickup. Both pickups retain near perfect patent stickers on their baseplates, with unbroken solder joints on the covers. All of the stock hardware is accounted for including the original gold ABR-1 bridge (pre-patent number with the correct foundry mark on the base), gold trapeze tailpiece, witch hat knobs, pickguard, and switch tip.In terms of cosmetic wear, this is a remarkably clean and well cared for instrument, and the original sunburst nitro lacquer finish is 100% stock with no touchups or overspray. This guitar is crack-free with no serious wear of any kind, although there is moderate targeted buckle rash central to the back of the guitar and one small spot where the finish has chipped off down to the bare maple. There is faint finish checking on the body and a couple tiny nicks on the instrument as a whole, but overall this is a particularly well preserved yet soulful vintage Gibson.The original hardshell case is included. This case retains the Gibson silkscreen on the exterior, with a clean gold interior, working latches, and a replacement handle. A new stereo cable is also included.
