These are truly amazing guitars which are seldom seen for sale today - perhaps only one or two per year surface on the open market! This piece from 1978 would of cost a number of weeks wages back in the day - to replace today you would have to spend in excess of $1500 to find a guitar of anywhere near comparative quality:This Grand Concert model has a greater scale length than lesser models, with the consequent enhanced tonal dimensions and complexity…. less sweet and some would say more imperial, especially the treble registry. We are lucky enough to own two of these so one must go to be appreciated further….Very beautiful to look at and to play, thanks to the tight grained solid Cedar top and Rosewood body. This model, the Kimbara N141 is practically identical to the Takamine C-140S! The reason for this - there was no Kimbara factory as such and these guitars were made under licence alongside Takamine's in their Japanese facility during the 1970's and early 80's. Some had differing patterns on the binding and rosettes and some had reinforced rosettes where others didn't(very minor differences) yet I have seen some that are like for like, only the back label can distinguish them...Basically this is a Takamine C-140. (please see the corresponding catalogue image to make your own comparisons)Both C-140S and C-150S were released in the same catalogue - longer Spanish scale (665mm). Both feature a solid cedar top; rosewood sides; 2 pieces rosewood back, reinforced mahogany neck; rosewood fingerboard and bridge. This 140 also compares to lesser models C-132S, 13Ss and 136S(check out previous sales of these online), whilst they are great guitars in their own right, none of them can match this player in terms of sound quality, tone and volume. If you are a Takamine fan or have played one of these models then I'm sure that you appreciate just how fantastic they are….This one has been played on occasion with discretion and professionalism over the last four decades. Has been professionally set up and maintained too, nice polished frets, new strings and all adjustments made…..no repairs all original. There are of course slight signs of honest use, a couple of very small dings, and one small scuff on the fingerboard(shown in photos) yet overall immaculate in general appearance, very very shiny for a vintage and tough to photograph! As such, any light areas on the photos are just reflections. Please contact us for any further information or so that we may set up this fine guitar to your preferences.A future antique so look after her!Enjoy!!
