Up for sale is my 2003 Benavente 200 Series electric guitar. This is a very special guitar and one of only 36 in existence. Benavente Guitars is a small builder from the Pacific Northwest (Chris Benavente). He is focused mostly on custom bass guitars these days, but back in the early 2000’s he was building these magnificent guitars. I bought this several years ago from Brendan Ekstrom of Circa Survive (more on that later), and I emailed Chris to get a little extra info on it. Here was his reply:"Hi. That there is the last (#36) of that body type I built. It was completed in Dec of 03. It's what I called the 200 Series and only a very few were carved top. It was built for a friend of mine with the in itials TZ so that's why that's in the trem cavity. No trem cover came with it. That's about all I can remember regarding this piece. Hope this was helpful…"Several of the earlier examples of the 200 Series were simpler slab bodies with bolt-on neck construction. This particular model has a very nicely carved top and a set neck. The black finish just looks awesome against the stained mahogany back.Playbility, Sound, Etc: This guitar is heavy, but very resonant. The solid mahogany/maple combo is tried and true and it works very well in this application. I’d describe this guitar as a beefy PRS-style. It has the PRS inspired 25” scale length and general body shape, but the body is thicker. The neck is similar to the PRS wide-fat profile, and it is very comfortable. The radius feels pretty flat and plays fast with no issues on huge bends - if I had to guess I’d say its somewhere around a 12” radius. The sound is huge thanks to all that wood and pair of amazing USA-made brass plate DiMarzio humbuckers (Super Distortion & Air Norton). The tuning is very stable thanks to the locking Gotoh tuners and the rock solid Wilkinson trem. Sustain for days. To me, this guitar has a very fat, round tone but with a nice top-end to it. Not dark like a Les Paul.Condition: This guitar is in really good, but played, condition. It was a touring guitar for a rock band (albeit briefly) and it has a few dings and blemishes to show for it. No major dents, cracks or structural issues. I’ve tried to capture most of the dings in the pictures. Overall it looks great. The case has seen better days. It does the trick, but its not all that pretty.Circa Survive: So, as I mentioned, this guitar used to belong to Brendan Ekstrom from the band Circa Survive. I bought it from him back in 2011 or 2012. If you are a fan, then its a super cool piece of the band’s history. Brendan played this guitar on stage and in the studio. The last picture on this listing is him playing the guitar live in Orlando back in 2010.Specs:

It pains me to sell this, but I just bought a guitar that I've always wanted and so I have to let go of a few to justify it. My loss is your gain. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have! The guitar will ship with a hard case (which still has the “CIRCA” tour tape on it). Trem bar is also included.Shipping is $50 in Continental USA (more to Hawaii or Alaska). This includes insurance.
