Vintage guitar, Antonio Carlos Garcia, Madrid, approx. 1860-70, needs restoration This is one of those rare opportunities to purchase an un-restored early-Romantic guitar. Antonio Garcia made guitars for a UK distributor (Alban Voight, London). Not may have survived the 150 years. I’m offering this guitar as a restoration project. Recent sales of similar (but slightly less ornate) Garcia guitars have achieved £1500 to £2500. This is an opportunity to own an historic guitar at an affordable price. This particular guitar has the makings of a lovely instrument. It has retained all of the beautiful purfling and the Mother of Pearl inlays on the headstock, around the top edge and within the rosette. It’s a good start! However, the sides will require quite a bit of work. There are various splits. I am happy to provide more images, or to show you the guitar prior to purchase. The heel of the neck has a hole through it. Presumably put there to hang the guitar on display as I have removed a strand of wire from it. The neck is still fastened well and this hole doesn’t seem to have affected the structure fortunately. The fingerboard is original and it now shows considerable wear. The 18 frets also appear to be original, along with the fixed bridge. The bridge is still firmly attached and the sound board is in pretty good condition and without splits. As you expect, it’s a solid top. The top bracing appears to have held up well. The tuners are original and still work well. The buttons are also original. The back is two-piece. The top and bottom are bound well. The price includes the old case, which has seen better times and the fastener catch is missing one part. Please ask questions .
