I got sidetracked - trying to change the world -- and I hadn't played clarinet for awhile. But then I saw this little clarinet, a very rare design, and had to have it. It got me playing again. I carried it around everywhere. Played it while I was driving. And had a lot of fun with it. It has a great tone. Hard to play in tune -- which is typical for an Eb clarinet anyway. But it is really fun to play, and easy to carry. After thoroughly enjoying playing this little clarinet for awhile I realized that I have an Eb clarinet collection that I haven't touched for a couple of years -- including a one piece model just like this one except made by Buffet, and I have another that I consider the best Eb ever made. I have 9 Eb clarinets! Well, this Rene Dumont was fun, I love it, but it drew my attention to what I already have, and I really don't need so many Eb clarinets. Somebody else will love this little clarinet. A very unusual antique design. Great tone. Fun to play. The very unusual characteristic is that it was made without the need for a barrel -- what I mean by "one piece". Because of this design it may be hard to find a case for it. It has no case. I can include some kind of straight clarinet case -- it won't fit right, but there will be some extra room, and I'll include some accessories including a swab, some rare vintage reeds, and some bore oil. Clarinet comes with a good mouthpiece, ligature, and cap. Ready to play. I hope you will love it as much as I do. |
