Up for sale, a 2007 G&L Legacy in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. As the third instrument company founded by Leo Fender, G&L's instruments benefit from Leo Fender's decades of experience at MusicMan and (of course) Fender. Produced at the same Fullerton, CA factory as the early MusicMan guitars, this Legacy is the culmination of years of electric guitar innovation and design. Clearly a descendant of the Stratocaster, the Legacy boasts the familiar trappings associated with that instrument, but with an updated feature set. Weighing in at 8lbs 8oz, this guitar has a smooth treble response, spanky midrange, and punchy low end that translates well through the pickups. Specifically invoking a 1957 Stratocaster with this particular build, this Legacy features a two-tone sunburst finish on an alder body with a high gloss amber tinted finish on the maple neck, which has a substantial soft V profile also indicative of one of Fender's most desirable Strat production years. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and freshly restrung with 10-46 strings, this Legacy plays effortlessly with spot-on intonation and low, slinky action. The aforementioned soft V neck profile has plenty of girth and roundness at the nut, filling out to a chunky C shape as you move into the higher registers of the fretboard. It's a very comfortable profile that's easy to chord and intuitive to play. The gloss maple fretboard boasts a 9 1/2" fretboard radius as well as original Jescar 57110 medium-jumbo nickel-silver frets. These frets are in remarkable shape, showing only the faintest wear on the fret crowns beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5, and virtually no wear up the neck. Arrow straight with ideal relief and no buzzing or dead spots, this Legacy plays cleanly all the way up the fretboard. The bone nut measures 1 5/8" in width and is a marked improvement in tone and sustain over the more conventional plastic and synthetic nuts used by other builders. The headstock features the stock G&L stamped sealed tuning gears which work very smoothly and hold pitch as they should. The electronics are stock and function as intended, with a trio of Alnico V CLF-100 pickups that were designed after decades of intensive research into the magic behind the original Fender '50s black bobbin pickup winding materials and methods. These pickups are integrated with Leo Fender's PTB (Passive Bass Treble) EQ controls for more versatility and range than a traditional Strat tone options, and another important innovation is the Dual Fulcrum vibrato. This vibrato unit leans heavily on the original Fender Strat design, but with a two-point pivot that makes the vibrato more responsive, yet still very reliable and easy to control for quick flutters or surprisingly deep dives, all with excellent tuning stability.Cosmetically, this Legacy is a real stunner and one of the most appealing G&L aesthetic combinations for a vintage purist. The light cream pickup covers, knobs, and switch tip are perfectly complimented by a single ply off-white pickguard, and the two-tone brown to black gloss sunburst finish has an understated and classic '50s look. There is very minimal wear on this guitar, and the instrument is truly near mint, with only a couple tiny nicks on the entire guitar, and no serious wear of any kind. The original G&L hardshell case is included.
