Rare Urei 6500 Power amp. High end power amp with 2 separate amplifier modules and power supplies.This has been serviced and is working perfectly. Cosmetic condition average for its age (please see photos).Service of UREI 6500 power amplifier: Replaced the original electrolytic capacitors with Panasonic FR Series aluminum electrolytic capacitors*

Ordered and installed Kemet PEH200 Series aluminum electrolytic capacitors for the PSU.Ordered and installed Neutrik P Series XLR chassis connectors. *If there were any tantalum capacitors in amp, I would have replaced those with the Panasonic FR Series electrolytic capacitors as well, but I don't recall there being any.The Model 6500 is a vintage two-channel power amplifier for professional applications. To avoid interaction between channels, the mainframe of the 6500 has two complete power supplies with separate transformers and extra-large filter capacitors capable of handling 3x the expected load. Power output is conservatively rated at 600 watts per channel into 2 ohms, 450 watts into 4 ohms, and 275 watts into 8 ohms. With the flip of a switch, the Model 6500 may be operated as a very high power single-channel amplifier rated at 1,200 watts into 4 ohms or 900 watts into 8 ohms (bridged output). Fourteen output transistors are used per channel in full complementary configurations, each rated at 200 watts. Reliability is ensured without resorting to overly sophisticated protection circuitry that can adversely affect sound quality. Since the amp is AC coupled, dc appearling at the input cannot damage loudspeakers. UREI has provided a rear-panel feedback connector which will allow detection of the signal at the speaker's terminals. Extremely high damping factor and near-perfect transient response are now obtainable at the loudspeaker. The negative effects of the feed conductors no longer need to contribute to signal degradation. The manual link for more info -
