Here is the complete history on this Gibson Les Paul. I started out in search of a great playing Les Paul and played many customs, classics, and Standards. This guitar started it's life as a1994 Arctic white Studio with ebony board and gold hardware. I can't really explain it but the way this particular guitar felt in my hands was beyond any of the others I had tried out. Back when this guitar was built Studios were just a Standard minus the binding but this one had the upgraded ebony board found on the Customs. 15+ years ago the guitar was knocked off it's stand at a gig and back of headstock suffered a crack (not broken). I took the guitar to master guitar luthier and builder Ernie Wells (authorized Gibson and Martin repair if that tells you anything). He is known in the Bluegrass world for making some of the finest mandolins money can buy. Ernie repaired and he removed it looks like 1/4 inch of material then laminated a piece of mahogany to the back so it would never happen again. I loved the guitar so much that I also had him strip the guitar, add binding and give it the beautiful cherry burst finish. The repair is just awesome craftsmanship to behold. The neck would break off of this guitar before it would ever suffer another cracked headstock. The added material to the headstock also added the benefit of making the guitar sound even thicker. This guitar is heavy! Around 3 years ago I took the guitar to master custom builder Kevin Heffernan (KLH guitars) and had him do a complete fret job. Since then life has sent me on another path and the guitar has been sitting in it's case since then. With the guitar having an ebony board Kevin also applied some epoxy to back of frets so they stay seated (you can see some epoxy around frets in photos). This guitar has tons of mojo so don't miss out on an opportunity to own a one of a kind Gibson. This guitar has been well loved and played heavily. Finish is worn thru on back of neck. Please see pictures for condition. Tuners were upgraded with Grover Deluxe and Bridge humbucker upgraded to a Seymour Duncan JB. Guitar comes with original tuners, pickup and pick guard. Hate to part with her, but need Christmas money. No international sales. Thanks
