Burns Vibra ArtistThis is a very early example of the Vibra Artist as it has a maple fingerboard, blankpickup covers, open back tuners, early strap buttons, and ribbed knobs instead of smooth. These things all point to it being a model made in 1960 the first year of production. As far as I am aware, it is pretty much original apart from a replaced jackplug socket
through necessity as the original mini socket was not working. It is finished in a dark red with black neck fading into red at each end. The three Tri Sonicpickups have no name stamped into the tops, and there are three volume and three tonecontrols which were not wired conventionally but in a way which by using all the controlsin various ways could make many different sounds. There is also a rhythm/soloswitch as well as a three-way pickup switch missing its cream tip.The bridge is adjustable and may at one time have had a cover although I'm a bitdoubtful; and the tremolo tailpiece is missing its arm.The black scratchplate often had a small cream one mounted on it on the righthandside, but I'm not sure that this one ever did. This guitar is an early one, its working and it plays, but it would benefit from a good setup;the bottom E string is a little too close to the A string so the bridge needs a little adjustment. However, it is working and it is a rare one - now fifty-six years old!!
