This is a 1997 Goodall Rosewood Grand Concert .Goodalls are one of the top five boutique guitars made today...If we compared James Goodall to a violin maker he would be the Stradivarius of our time...His instruments are like a Stradivarius in that the better the player the more that can be tonally expected from the instrument. This has the complex holographic 3D sound Goodalls are famous for. What that means is that you hear a lot of echoey waterfall harmonics cascading out of the sound hole…Sounds like built in reverb with very rich and resonant tone. This is a very dynamic instrument and responds to delicate finger picking but really opens up with a huge voice when driven hard with a flatpick. Back and sides are select grade Indian rosewood w/ curly Koa binding and AAAA Sitka top. I was a Goodall dealer and carried them in my shop for ten years and this is one of the best sounding I have heard. This features the earlier design winged bridge which I find to be better sounding than the later truncated design. The finish is in good shape with some weather checking in the top. This was played by a touring pro for many years so has really opened up. Had a 2x2” star shape repair in the top just below the bridge. The area was re-glued then touched up and a super thin patch of Adirondack spruce applied to the back by a professional luthier. It looks good is flat and tight and didnt change the sound. Been stable for the past four years. this guitar is currently $6795 new w/ pickup installed and this is $2000 under wholesale! its unlikely youll ever find another Goodall with pickup installed at a price like this., This has a K&K pure western pickup w/ installed preamp ($400 installed). This is a nearly invisible pickup meaning that when you plug the guitar in, the tone isn’t shaped by the pickup it just sounds like the guitar only bigger. Has an onboard preamp with volume control. Reinforced strap button added to the side so it hangs and balances nicely. The neck is straight no issues there or with the frets. Action is low. A very nice sounding package for the pro that wants the very best sounding 000 sized guitar. OM sized body with a little extra depth for better bass response 1-3/4” nut- 25.5 OM scale.
