LOW OPENING BID!  Up for auction is a handsome and robust-sounding 1978 Ibanez Concert 100 electric guitar with rare Cherry Wine finish.  This guitar is in very good condition.  While it hasn’t been played in 35 years, during its “retirement” it has been well taken care of in a smoke-free and climate controlled environment.  It is remarkably clean for a 38-year-old instrument, with only a very few minor blemishes and superficial scratches that can be buffed out.  Only one ding of note occurs, on the back left edging, which measures about 3/8-inch long (see accompanying photos).  This, too, can be easily remedied, if desired.  This guitar plays and sounds like it did when I purchased it from its original owner six months after it left the factory.     The 1978 CN100 has a double cutaway solid body.  The top is carved maple on a solid mahogany body.  The ivory cream binding on the body and neck has aged nicely.  It has a detachable rock maple neck with 22 large frets on a rosewood fretboard.    I’m a lefty, so when I bought this beauty I cut a new nut and adjusted the bridge; but you can easily reset these to their original or your own preferred positions.  The frets have been filed down to lower the action; if you prefer higher action, when you readjust the bridge and replace the nut like I did, you can simply notch it slightly less deeply (or, of course, have this done professionally).   Its original Gibraltar bridge, tailpiece, and Smooth Tuner II star machine heads are mint. Each pickup has separate volume and tone knobs, with a 3-way toggle. Arguably the best Ibanez pickups are on this guitar.  The original Super 80s Flying Fingers are said to sound somewhere between a Gibson PAF and a Dimarzio Super Distortion. This guitar also has its original Sure Grip knobs with ribbed rubber inserts.  These are increasingly hard to find.  The hardshell case is in excellent shape. Shipping & packaging costs are a flat $49 in the continental U.S., plus insurance.  Alaska, Hawaii, or Canadian buyer $10 extra. Good luck bidding! Whether you’re a seasoned stage performer or a collector of vintage instruments, you won’t be disappointed.
