Up for sale, a 1976 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe, converted to a Standard model with full size Seymour Duncan '59 PAF humbuckers. Well loved and incredibly resonant, this honestly played vintage Gibson handles aggressive strumming well and delivers focused, harmonic rich tonalities that sustain near endlessly. Designed to provide a couple modern tweaks on the classic PAF design, these Duncans are wax potted to better handle high gain situations without squealing and they also boast four-conductor wiring (although the current wiring only utilizes two of the wires for a traditional control layout). For crystalline clean tones that have plenty of warmth and distorted sounds that are equally clear and bright, the SH-1 '59 PAF is a great choice and a perfect compliment to the balanced and surprisingly strong acoustic voice of the Les Paul. Weighing in at 10lbs 2oz, this moderate weight Les Paul is crack-free and has a great look that pairs double white humbucker covers with a dark Tobacco Sunburst finish. The guitar has also been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings and low action. The three-piece maple neck has a fairly slender C shaped profile, and the finish has been worn down to the bare wood along the majority of the profile for a silky smooth playing experience. The rosewood fretboard sports original pearl trapezoid inlays and a professional refret with vintage-style fretwire that is fairly slender in width yet has good height and well rounded fret crowns. The frets currently show only the faintest wear in the first position beneath the plain strings with virtually no wear up the neck and no buzzing or dead spots. The nut width measures a full 1 11/16" too. On the headstock, the original double ring Gibson Deluxe tuning machines are present along with the original Deluxe truss rod cover. The decal serial number introduced in '76 is also present with the "00" prefix only used in that year. All of the electronics work as they should, with the brand new pair of Seymour Duncan SH-1 '59 PAF humbuckers and a modern Gibson wiring harness. Much of the original hardware is present, including the stock pickup rings, pickguard, switch surround, and switch tip, all of which have aged to a nice shade of cream. The original reflector cap knobs and tailpiece are present too, while the bridge is a modern era ABR-1 replacement with enough patina to look at home with the other stock hardware.Cosmetically, this Les Paul has playwear indicative of a guitar that's seen countless gigs but hasn't been abused. The nitro lacquer Tobacco Sunburst finish is 100% original with no touchups or overspray, showing some gorgeous wear along the lower bout bass side edge where the forearm has worn the finish down to the bare maple. There are plenty of nicks and finish scratches on the body, with wear through the finish along most of the back parameter of the two-piece "sandwich" mahogany body. Here at our shop we cleaned up the previous humbucker routes as well, using wood putty to fill in and redrill the pickup ring holes as necessary so that both humbuckers mount securely. While these routes were not professionally enlarged, the edges have been tidied up a bit. The guitar is structurally sound, crack free, and ready to be put to use on stage and in the studio.
A modern hardshell case is included.
